Some of my favorite activities while traveling are participating in a variety of water sports. Over the years I've often traveled to islands (especially in the Caribbean) where water sports are a part of the culture and often a part of people's daily lives. I've participated in the following water sports ... and you can to :) Stand up Paddle Board - my first introduction to stand up paddle boarding was a few years ago in Bermuda. Bouncing from Island to Island in the Caribbean
I began my day in Anguilla, then hopped on a ferry to Sint Marteen and with a few hours to kill between flights I headed over to the nearby Maho Beach for some #planespotting. This is one of the more famous airports because this tiny sliver of sand is situated right next to the edge of the runway - framed on one end by aquamarine waters and landing planes on the other end. I arrived in the late morning - and the beach was fairly empty. I was … [Read more...]

Saba Anyone?
I recently counted the times I've either flown, ferried, or come in on a cruise ship to Sint Maarten in the last two months; my arrivals and departures added up to 14 times (interesting considering I had never visited the island until late 2015)! During my stops in Sint Marteen, my eye has caught glimpses of the intriguing, mysterious and prominent shape of Saba (a municipality of the Netherlands) in the distance, sometimes clear, sometimes … [Read more...]
Cap Juluca, Anguilla
Sitting on the most comfortable lounger ever, watching fat white clouds scuttling by in the seriously blue sky above Cap Juluca on the Caribbean island of Anguilla, I’m wondering why I’d ever want to get up. I suspect the rich and famous who visit here, like Liam Neeson, Denzel Washington, Jennifer Aniston and other cinematic superstars, don’t want to get up much either. This is one great beach, St. Maarten and St. Bart’s on … [Read more...]
