(Los Angeles, California – April, 2014) Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia), the flag carrier airline of Saudi Arabia, inaugurates service at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) with the only nonstop flight between Los Angeles and Saudi Arabia. The three days per week service to Jeddah operates on new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft featuring a three-class cabin configuration, the first-of-its-type.
“Saudia’s inaugural flight to Los Angeles is a manifestation of our continued efforts to expand our global reach to better service our valued customers,” said Abdulaziz Alhazmi, Saudia chief executive officer and director general designate. The services to LAX, following our launch to Toronto, Canada last year and the resumption of our flights to Manchester, UK, are just some of the components of this initiative to claim our rightful place among the world’s leading carriers.”
“On behalf of the City of Los Angeles I would like to welcome the first Saudi Arabian Airlines direct flight from Jeddah to Los Angeles,” said Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti. “Travelers will enjoy our scenic beaches, magnificent mountains, vibrant museums, world-class restaurants, and bountiful business opportunities. I look forward to welcoming again Saudia passengers on their many return trips to the City of Angels.”
“We are honored Saudia chose LAX as its U.S. West Coast debut for this new, historic service,” said Gina Marie Lindsey, Los Angeles World Airports executive director. “This is the type of air quality service we want to keep attracting to LAX.”
The three days per week service on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays originates in the capital city of Riyadh, and stops-over in Jeddah before flying nonstop to Los Angeles. Cabin features 24-seats in First Class, 36 seats in Business Class and 245 seats in Guest Class.
