Campaign Creative for Explorer In Chief
NEW YORK (March, 2020) – The Alliance for Downtown New York, the nonprofit business improvement district for Lower Manhattan, has launched the Lower Manhattan’s Explorer In Chief Summer Dream Job Contest that will move one lucky winner to New York City to document their once-in-a-lifetime experience living in Lower Manhattan during summer 2020.
To fill this role, the Alliance is seeking an urban explorer with a camera-ready personality, a keen eye, a distinctive voice and the chops to produce compelling, entertaining content. Ideal applicants will have a nose for hidden gems, and the ability to truly get inside a place, its people and attractions. Someone who is charismatic and comfortable as the center of attention but who knows that the location is, ultimately, the star. To land this dream job, applicants must submit a video, of 60 seconds or less, between March 2, 2020, and March 15, 2020, at 11:59p ET.
The winner of the contest will live in Lower Manhattan from June through August. Over three months, the Alliance will encourage the winner to pursue their own curiosity-fueled and inspired ideas by providing access to unique experiences that will all add up to an amazing summer’s worth of adventures for the Explorer In Chief. Whether it’s VIP visits to the top attractions like the Statue of Liberty and One World Observatory, or entry to the hidden speakeasies, cultural gems and hot restaurants, the Explorer in Chief will get a singular opportunity to discover all that New York’s oldest — and newest — neighborhood has to offer.
For three months, the Explorer In Chief will be employed by the Alliance and compensated for their work with a monthly stipend, paid expenses and free rent at premiere Downtown properties, kicking off with a long-term stay at the tech-enabled hospitality brand Sonder. In addition to amenities including co-working spaces, a library, a sky lounge and game room, Sonder will welcome the Explorer In Chief with top accommodations that include a kitchen as well as distinct living and sleeping spaces to make their stay comfortable.
“From the indigenous Lenape Indians, to Henry Hudson and Herman Melville, to more recently Questlove, countless adventurous souls have explored this island and these streets and made them their own. We are looking for another adventurous soul to discover Lower Manhattan anew,” said Downtown Alliance President Jessica Lappin. “There is so much to see and experience here; we are thrilled to provide a modern explorer and storyteller with the tools they need to share their own tale of discovery.”
“Sonder is thrilled to partner with such a prestigious nonprofit to promote New York’s Downtown and host a lucky explorer for the summer,” said Cabell Rosanelli, General Manager of Sonder New York. “Whether a stay is for a day, a month or a year, we believe there’s no better way to explore the Big Apple than from the home-base of one of our beautiful spaces, and are looking forward to welcoming the winner to our Stock Exchange building.”
