(Los Angeles, CA) Air Italy has begun non stop service between Los Angeles (LAX) and Milan Malpensa (MXP) – Los Angeles is only the third North American destination city served nonstop by Air Italy (their first North American non stop flights were to New York JFK and Miami in 2016. And service begins to San Francisco on April 10, 2019.
LAX is currently only one of 4 USA based airports to provide non stop service to Milan, Italy.
Several officials and and a number of press gathered at the Intercontinental in downtown Los Angeles to announce the new nonstop Air Italy route between Milan Malpensa International Airport (MXP) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) including Los Angeles City Council member and Chair of Trade, Travel and Tourism Committee Joe Buscaino, Air Italy Chief Operating Officer Rossen Dimitrov and Los Angeles World Airports Chief Operating Officer Samson Mengitsu.
Councilman Joe Buscaino stressed the importance of this route – especially in the district he represents, the 15th District which has one of the largest Italian American communities on the west coast of the United States (including in the community of San Pedro). The new route continues a trend of growing international investment into the Los Angeles market.
The flight route is currently offered 4 days a week, but Air Italy Chief Operating Officer Rossen Dimitrov indicated if the route is successful, the route could be extended so that it is offered daily.
A feature sure to please business travelers was rolled out on the inaugural flight – Air Italy’s on-demand dining service for passengers in business class. Passengers in this class can choose when they would like to dine or elect not to dine – as well as order à la carte during much of the flight. And meals offer a selection of both international and Italian cuisine with a number of fine Italian wines.
