For much of the 20th century, smoking was a trend that attracted people from all walks of life. From politicians to cowboys, it was never surprising to see a cigarette hanging from someone’s mouth.

– The main con of smoking is how bad it is for your health. It’s a leading global cause of preventable death, causing multiple debilitating diseases from lung cancer to heart disease.
Secondhand smoke
– While smoking is incredibly bad for people who smoke, the dangers of secondhand smoke also pose a real risk to the people around them as well. It’s especially dangerous for children, but can lead to a range of health issues in other nonsmokers as well.
The smell
– Aside from the negative health effects, smoking creates an intense odour that sticks to clothing and furniture for a long time. While smokers may not notice it as they’re desensitised, it’s highly unpleasant for those around them.

Next, the devil we don’t know – vaping.
Pros
Compared to smoking, there are quite a few pros to vaping.
Harm reduction
– All of the research that has currently been carried out suggests that vaping is a lot less harmful than smoking. Vape liquids have pretty much no carcinogens in them, and are constantly being developed to be safer and safer.
Decreased long-term smell
– Most people accept that vaping smells a lot better than smoking. Even if you don’t like how sweet they are, the smell vanishes in a matter of minutes or hours, unlike the pungent odour of cigarette smoke.
Control over nicotine
– Vaping means that you can control exactly how much nicotine you’re ingesting. This means that if you’re using it as a tool to quit, you can slowly bring the levels down, starting with nicotine salts until you’re using nicotine-free vapes!
Cons
There aren’t many cons to vaping, but here they are.
Addictive properties
– The main thing to be aware of with vapes is that they’re still addictive, as many of them still contain nicotine. That being said, nicotine itself isn’t terribly bad for you, but it’s still something to be aware of.
At the end of the day, the most significant pro of vaping over smoking is how much better it is for your health. If you’re concerned about the negative health implications, then it’s definitely worth switching over.
