Drink plenty of water
Sure you’re drinking copious amounts of coffee and probably even more alcohol, but they don’t really count towards your daily intake of fluids! Drinking plenty of water and keeping yourself hydrated is a positive steps towards keeping yourself fit, health and active. Drinking plenty whilst travelling is easy, you can invest in a reusable water bottle which you can refill at reliable water sources or purchase bottled water instead.
Cook!
If possible, plan ahead so your accommodation provides you with access to cooking equipment. Then, instead of eating out every night and making potentially poorer meal choices, you have the opportunity to purchase local groceries from local vendors and market stalls, enjoy the freshest of fruit and vegetables and cook something truly authentic! If you’ve been eating a lot of street food or junk food on your travels so far, then you’ll probably appreciate a fresh meal that’s bursting with colourful ingredients and real flavour.
Walk!
Do you really need to get a taxi to you that museum you want to visit? If it’s safe to do so, and you’re confident that you won’t get lost – google maps is your friend here – then choose to walk from attraction to attraction. You’ll feel better for it, and you’ll get to see more of your destination on foot.
Do a work out
Simply put. Work out! But believe it or not, you don’t need a fancy, state of the art gym in order to get your heart pumping. Checking out a simple workout you can complete in your hotel room should be enough to get your heart pumping and get you ready for the day. Try a ten minute workout incorporating some simple exercises like these:
• Burpees
• Star jumps
• Lunges
• Planks
• Squat jumps.
If you want to complete some weighted exercises – try integrating your suitcase or hand luggage into your routine!
Make activity part of your travels!
Having fun is what travelling is all about right? So, why not bring activity and fun together whilst you’re on the road? Try a dance class in Argentina. Hiking in Thailand. Or swimming in the stunning lakes of Slovenia.
