We are Grace and Matt, a couple from Brooklyn by way of Seattle and Aix-en Provence in France respectively. We know, there are a lot of travel blogs out there. However this website simply stems from our passion for traveling, writing and photography, and the desire to share our experiences, lessons learned and favorite things to do with others. By presenting the site in English and French, we hope to bring more content to more readers.

The Pursuit of Excitement is a blog that promotes the notion of designing your life around the things that quicken your pulse, make you sit up straight in your chair when you read about them, and make you bound out of bed in the morning revved up and ready to go!

I love to travel, and I decided to chronicle my vacations for two reasons. One: I’m a complete goldfish. My leaky sieve brain will forget everything I've done in a matter of months, so I felt it was important to document things for my future self. And my mom. Two: The first thing I do before I plan a trip is reach out to my friends and family. I’ve received so much great travel advice over the years, and I wanted to pay it forward.

Traveling and going on new adventures feeds my soul. It is a necessary part of me and I cannot survive without it. The adrenaline of being out of my comfort zone in a new environment and overcoming the fear of the unknown makes me feel alive!

Ever since I was a child I have been obsessed with adventure and the outdoors. As a young man I moved to Norway to pursue my passion for skiing.

Hey there, I’m Scott, former Pittsburgher and current Chicagoan. I started Quirky Travel Guy as a way to document the cool things I see and do on the road, throughout all 50 states and with the occasional international journey.

Travel for me was an escape earlier but now it’s the best source of learning I can ever get. It’s an exchange, between places and me. People and me. Stories and me. It’s made me open my knots, let go of my inhibitions, accept the world with open arms and most of all bettered me as a human being.
