Fish and Feathers was launched by journalist Hilde Veeren (Feathers) and photographer Maarten Vis (Fish) in 2009. We have both been working in the (travel) magazine business for over ten years, and decided that publishing our stories in travel magazines alone wasn’t enough. We started our blog during a three-month sabbatical in Asia in 2009. At first just for our friends and family, but as soon as we realised our audience grew each day, we professionalised our blog.

I had always been encouraged to travel so at the age of 22 I headed out from New Zealand on a 2 year trip to see the world. That was a while ago and Im still going, still traveling. The bug that bit me left its mark thats for sure as my passion for travel has never subsided.
