Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Gardens
If you’re looking to spend a day with the family outside enjoying the fresh air, look no further than the Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Gardens. Let your children run through the 8 acre Roy Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden and explore the Children’s Garden Cafe. You can even pack a picnic and eat in the picnic areas throughout the Arboretum.
Perot Museum of Nature and Science
The Perot Museum is a great place to let the kids expel some energy while also learning at the same time! The museum has five floors of permanent exhibit halls that offer life-like simulations, educational games and interactive kiosks. There is also an outdoor play space and courtyard. Don’t forget to check out the 35-foot Malawissaurus fossil before you leave the museum!
Dallas Museum of Art
Home to over 23,000 works of art, the Dallas Museum of Art spans 5,00 years of humanity. View some of Picasso, Rodin, Monet, and Gauguin’s greatest works or check out one of the constantly changing galleries that feature art from around the world! The art museum is even home to a recreation of Coco Chanel’s southern French villa!
Reunion Tower
If you’re looking to get a panoramic view of Dallas, the Reunion Tower is the spot for you! Known as one of Dallas’ most popular landmarks, the tower stands at 561 feet and is the cities 15th tallest building. The platform at the top of the tower revolves 360 degrees allowing you to see for miles.
Old Red Museum
Originally built to serve as a courthouse, the Old Red Museum now houses artifacts from the prehistoric age to the current day. The museum even houses memorabilia from past and present sports figures and the handcuffs Lee Harvey Oswald wore when he was taken into custody for the assassination of President Kennedy.
Frontiers of Flight Museum
With over 30 aviation and space flight exhibits, the Frontiers of Flight Museum is perfect for any space and aviation lover. The museum has 13 galleries that display small aircraft models, full-size plans and stories of aviation trailblazers. The museum is even home to a full-sized Wright brothers Wright Flyer from 1903.
Southfork Ranch
No trip to Dallas is complete without a visit to the most famous house in Texas! Featured on the fan favorite TV show Dallas, Southfork Ranch is a quick 40 minute drive outside of the city and is located in the suburb of Parker. Southfork is used as a functional ranch where guests can take horseback riding lessons, take a guided tour of the house, and check out the costumes and other props from one of the longest-running shows on TV!
