When asked about something typically German beer will be one of the most frequent responses people will give you. Germany is a beer loving nation. Internationally probably most known is the Oktoberfest where the beer consumption reaches a climax in the country. Since there is still some time to spare until the next Oktoberfest I recommend any beer lover with an extreme craving for some German beer to start looking for Berlin apartments, because the German capital is hosting the 15th International Beer Festival from August 5th until the 7th.
About 300 breweries from 86 different countries are expected to come to the festival offering 2,000 beer specialties. In addition, the festival is making an attempt to break the record for the longest beer garden with a length of 2km to celebrate the 15th anniversary. The location for the festival will be in the heart of the city. The “beer mile” will stretch from Strausberger Platz to Frankfurter Tor.
The record attempt is scheduled for the 7th between 11 and 1pm in the Karl-Marx-Allee. Everybody who wants to participate has to register on the webpage prior to the event. The rest of the time the beer mile is open for anyone who likes to sit down for a beer. Aside from the latest and most delicious in beer the festival offers 18 stages on which you will enjoy a full programme of entertainment for the whole family with live music from national and international bands and musicians. The organizers of the festival expect about 800,000 visitors.
Oh, and did I mention the best about this festival? It is free!!! It’s one of the little joys in life to sit outside with friends or family in the summer enjoying a cold beer. And if you go to this festival this year you even have the chance to be part of the possible breaking of a world record. The only thing that is left to do now is rent apartments in Berlin, during the beginning of August.
