Toretto’s Barbershop, Frankfurt Germany is as old school as it gets and within a short time is already one of the world’s great barbershops. A bit edgy, definitely more then a bit OG, yet the vibe here is decidedly youthful.
Founded and run by Alex Torreto whose window onto the world situated next to chair number 1. Alex is Greek but was born and raised in Germany. Barbershops are not a ‘thing’ in Germany and according to Alex, his shop is the first true barbershop in the entire country.
Already extremely popular with locals, jet setters and the USA military – during one visit about 60 mostly bearded fellows were lined up already, a count by our own estimate – well before the shop even opens. And according to Torreto, a slow day. Customers often start lining up two hours before the shop even opens he said.
So much more then a simple hair cutting shop, upstairs features eclectic wall decorations and a bar and a bottle of Jack sitting on the counter. The bartnder is an affable chap and offers to pour your poison of choice. A dart board hangs out above the stairs – careful when ascending to avoid being plugged by a possible errant dart.
Not your normal barbershop. The guys say this on their website: “We don’t follow any social standard, no rules, nothing. Our philosophy will always be the same “stay true”. We decided to share our live, our story as we don’t want to just sell straight cuts, we are more than that!”
