Along the windy and and often heavily traveled Oretega Highway is a singular lookout perch with a restaurant hugging the interior confines of this space. The Lookout Roadhouse, appropriately named is located on a pullout off of the highway affording excellent views of Lake Elsinore and the landscape spread out panorama like far below. Located only about 15 miles from the center of Lake Elsinore, Lookout Roadhouse was founded in 1945 and has been owned by the same family since 1968.
We’ve made several detours to come here over the years to enjoy both the view, the cool people that hang out in the parking lot (often bikers) and the great food. Once after biking to the top of Santiago Peak (Saddleback), the only thing we could think about was coming here to enjoy the amazing pulled pork sandwich (which is one of their sandwich of the day items) – we wish it would be made permanent). They are known for their all day breakfast and also the ribs with their special BBQ sauce. Diners can eat standing up outside, inside or if weather permits on one of several tables outside in their patio.
We’ve met several folks here over the years including people from downtown Los Angeles, closer to home, Orange County and international tourists just passing through to check out the views. For more information, visit: www.lookoutroadhouse.com.

Been there many times as I used to live in lake elsinore from 1984 till 1990 when they were building new homes on the hills. Loved watching hang-gliders from the hillsides. Great food and Beer.
