This center is located right in downtown Darwin and is conveniently near many restaurants, shopping and hotels. Crocodiles are their focus and these impressive creatures certainly gather their fair share of attention. Some of the largest crocs in the world are on display here – including Bert from the original Crocodile Dundee movie.
One of the main attractions is the Cage of Death, the only place in Australia where you can safely dive with crocodiles. You enter a thick plastic cage and are lowered into any of a number of tanks – probably to the tank that has the hungriest croc at the time! Feeding occurs and the big beast rises high out of the water for the raw meat and often bangs his snout into your cage.
For additional adrenaline, you can feed juvenile crocs. Yes those scratch marks near the top of the plastic fence are for real. This youngsters can propel themselves extremely high out of the water as they lurch for the raw meat that is presented on the end of a fishing pole.
Crocosaurus Cove also have the largest reptile exhibit in the Northern Territory – snakes, lizards and dragons. Even the Western Taipan is represented here, the world’s most venomous snake!
