This 25 acre palm studded oasis founded by two Canadians sits on the edge of the Sierra de la Laguna foothills, a short drive from the center of San Jose del Cabo. Depending on the route one may pass through over narrow dirt roads – past primitive looking pens holding cows – a complete contrast in comparison to the well-kept and orderly grounds of the resort.
ACRE (pronounced, ahh-cray) is known for its quiet setting among the naturally growing palms, organic gardens (this is no ordinary farm stay!), a mango orchard and an excellent bar, both one the ground level and also the Mezcal Rooftop and restaurant. Another highlight of a stay here are the ‘palm treehouses’ – private little villas located among the upper reaches of the palm trees. For those wanted to stay more ‘grounded’ private one-story villas are also available through fractional ownership.
Especially enjoyable for those staying here is an early afternoon of people watching, while enjoying a Caipirinha or perhaps one of their custom made ‘house’ cocktails from the bar while sampling a light fare from the restaurant. Locally grown ingredients are used wherever possible. Then follow dessert with a stroll over to the nearby pool for the rest of the afternoon.
