I posted a video here from our trip on the top of this page: http://www.davestravelcorner.com/travel-videos/other.htm
My new article on Maui is here: http://www.davestravelcorner.com/journals/publish/article_535.shtml
Maui is a nice island because there is a touristy section to satisfy those cravings and a non touristy, rugged and remote part of the island. From hiking above 9000 feet in the chill of the morning to swimming in clear waters in the afternoon Maui has a nice diversity to appeal to many types of tourists.

Yea FF miles are def the addiction of some – those who can afford to fly many times a year or those whose businesses pay for all their business travel and they have the luxury of flying business class or first with their upgrades.
Here is an interesting article about the FF mania from Conde Naste traveler in one of their recent magazines:

Also of course Flyer Talk is a great resource for those interesting in the perks and the game of frequent flying.

Sinclair – I have the posting options locked down so much that I need to approve all posts (as well as other security features I have implemented). Its amazing the types of spam and in such volume at times that these idiots think they can flood the message boards with. That doesn’t fly here.
Thanks for bringing the PM’s to my attention – I have not yet looked at how I can lock down the PM options – if you have some user names, please forward as a PM to my davestravel account here (using the message boards). If you need my email, you can pull it off of the about us page – thanks again for your posts and for mentioning this 🙂

Dave
Who has some experience traveling with children through airports and security? Perhaps you could reply here.
We list a few traveling with children sites here:

Reise – thanks – I’ll look at doing another one or two this year. The last one we held was quite popular.

Travel show was pretty cool. Tons of exhibitors from around the world filled up the West Hall of the Convention Center. There was absolutely gorgeous weather so typical of LA that makes much of the northern hemisphere envious this time of year in mid February.
Bunch of travel celebs were there including Rick Steves, the Frommers, Johnny Jet and Jen Leo, blogger for the LA Times. She had an excellent presentation about using Twitter and Travel at the LA Times presentation stage.
I continue to add active travel blogs to my blog list under my “Resources” page and I think we are getting close to 100 entries once I run the next update.
I’m in the middle of updating my entire links software to something more current that is actually supported and hope to have this up and running by mid February 2010. There will be many more features for those who submit new links as well as managing them.
I have less than two week between trips so trying to get this hammered out before I leave next. Stay tuned!

There are a number of blogs that have been able to monetize their sites, direct ads, widgets and pay per click throughs. Nerdy Nomad is a pretty good one, she’s been able to travel and volunteer while monetizing her site pretty well based on her traffic:

I’ve been to San Jose several times, once in May and once in June (in regards to the time of year that you will be there), and I don’t remember mosquitos being that big of a problem. Try to go up in the mountains for cooler weather. I was up in the cloud forest area – Monteverde to be specific and it was cold enough in the mornings that mosquitos were not a problem.

Be careful of some of the outcall services in Bangkok – unless that is what you want as those types of massages will typically have a happy ending.
I’ve listed a bunch of massage and spas that I have personally tried and can recommend here:
