I was in Iquitos last year around this time and had the good fortune of running into Carmina in the Plaza area in the main part of Iquitos. She is a guide for the Eco Vagabond Lodge – this is a real neat jungle lodge located down-river from Iquitos. I wrote some info about it here: http://www.davestravelcorner.com/articles/iquitos/2.htm
I am planning on returning to Iquitos early next year (2007) for a trip from Iquitos down the Amazon River into Brazil almost to the ocean. I will then make my way overland through Brazil, Uruguay and finally into Argentina.
Has anyone done this trip before (at least the part about going down the Amazon River) – and if so, what types of recommendations do you have. I appreciate any information you can provide.
Regards,
Dave
