NadineHey!
To anyone who is looking to go to language school while travelling…I went to Montana Linda in Orosi, CR, and I am really happy that I did. At first I was really nervous because it was so cheap, I thought that it wouldnt be very legit, but luckily it was truly great! I had one on one classes 3 hours per day, I stayed with a very kind host family, and I immersed myself into the activities of the town. Now I am completely in love with Orosi. The people there are kind, the town is beautiful, there are great hikes to hotsprings and waterfalls, and of course, Montana Linda taught me to speak spanish so that i could enjoy it even more. I hope you enjoy your travels as much as I did!
YM1Did you see any children at the school? I am thinking about going to Orosi with my two children (ages 7 and 10) next summer and live with a CR family.
BarbaraWere there any parents with small children? I have a son who is 6, will be 7 when we want to go in the summer.

TiffanyWhat time of year did you go? How many people were in your classes? How were the conditions in the home of your host family?
WarwickHola,
We have Spanish language schools located in Costa Rica, El Savador and Mexico where you can study Spanish (intensive Spanish – 4 hours per day) and learn to surf. Please look at http://www.studyspanishandsurf.comWe look forward to having you

rstuart34I spent July 2006 in Costa Rica attending the Academia Columbus school in Heredia. This school is promoted via http://www.spanishabroad.com. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS SCHOOL – for several reasons. First and foremost, I wanted to learn Costa Rican or Central American Spanish. This school teaches the formal type of Spanish, spoken in Spain. Secondly, the materials and resources used in the classrooms were substandard. Third, the progression of learning and placement of students appropriate for their level of Spanish was inconsistent. The teachers were truly interested in students’ learning and they tried hard under the circumstances, but the director of the school seemed incompetent. For the money spent, and the number of schools available for learning Spanish in Costa Rica, I would recommend looking elsewhere! 🙁
languagelearnerHaven’t been to the one in Heredia. So, I can’t say much about it. However, I did just return from Costa Rica. Had a fantastic time studying at Costa Rican Langauge Academy. You might want to check it out the next time you go back.
