A number of years ago after noticing we started receiving a decent amount of press releases each week, usually from a destination, hotel, event, often restaurants or really most anything of interest to the general travel community relating to the tourism industry, we created a Press Release section of the site – now available here.
Since we receive numerous press releases via email each week – and it takes time to convert them over to our specific format, we have to really limit what is published on that part of this site. Typically if an item catches my personal interest based on my travel interests – it will be worth looking at.
If a press release is specific to a hotel most likely it will be passed up. An annual event may spark more interest especially if it is one held online in which many people can participate in rather than being local. A one time event, not as much. Preference is given to press releases originating from and about Los Angeles.
A press release full of links is typically passed over. A destination that sends through an informative press release is of more interest than a specific property trying to promote themselves.
We also like press releases with either photos included or a link to a photo database, from which we can then choose from.
