I came across “extended stay” hotels when I was on tour in Texas doing merch for the Shelley King Band http://shelleyking.com/ (check us out!). When we got to Dallas, we found a hotel http://www.homesteadhotels.com that had an eat-in kitchen, plus a stocked cupboard down the hall (eggs, spaghetti, chili, toothpaste etc.) that works on the honor system. Grab a carton of milk for your coffee, leave a buck. A total godsend for when you’re on the road without a lot of downtime in between gigs.

I stayed at the ExtendedStay America in Ft. Wayne Indiana. Very nice place. I don’t know anything about the stocked cupboard but I will say that the room was as nice (if not nicer) than some fairly expensive rooms I’ve had. Clean, comfortable and the girl at the desk was very pleasant. Things you don’t often find in a place most people can afford.
