forehoweMy husband and I took a 10 day cruise from San Francisco to Alaska departing on June 25. It was a Princess Cruise ship. The cabins were larger with more storage space than on other cruise lines we have sailed.
We had a great time. It was colder than we expected this time of year. There were only 3 days where it was sunny and we could walk outside on the deck. Other days were rainy or at least overcast and the wind on deck was too much to deal with. A local resident I met in Juneau told me that out of 120 summer days…they only had about 40 days that were sunny the majority of the day.
The scenery is spectacular. Our most favorite excursion was a helicopter flight out to a glacier. We hiked around on the glacier for an hour and then returned. We really felt like we were in Alaska walking around on that glacier. The ship itself did not get very close to glaciers. It sailed up Tracy Arm as close as it could safely get. We heard from other passengers that Glacier Bay is the best place to sail on a cruise to actually view the glaciers from the ship.
Cheers!
