Seeing the World One Step at a Time
Is it a good idea for me to go backpacking across Europe alone? I’ve always wanted to travel, but I don’t think I’ll find someone that I’ll want to go with. I’m a 18 year old girl and I want to go during the summer. I’m not worried about feeling alone, since I probably won’t have a problem with that, but I’m concerned about safety issues. What do you guys think?
Hi there – western Europe is a region setup for backpackers – plenty of hostels, euro rail passes, easy to meet other travelers. I think you would be fine traveling alone – and who knows, you probably will meet someone on your trip and end up traveling a bit with them. Trust your gut – if some place or someone doesn’t feel safe, get out of that situation as quickly as possible. There’s always those trying to scam people they feel don’t have experience with traveling.
