This book follows the author as she leaves Paris in the Spring of 2020 to visit her grandmother and large extended family in the Western Sahara. What was supposed to be a two week vacation turns into a much longer adventure due to closed borders and difficulties of travel that year. She returns to the Saharawi society and refuge camps from where she was born.
This story is one of the cultural differences between her home in France and her extended family homes in the Saraha. But it is also the story of trying to return to Europe during those difficult times and facing low food shortages, difficulties in securing internet and communications with the rest of the world, arrest and possible kidnapping. And to complicate things, part of her travels are during Ramadan. But this is also the story of those who help her including both extended family and strangers.
