Strange Tales of World Travel by Gina & Scott Gaille

September 1, 2020 by DaveLeave a Comment

It is remarkable what entertaining stories a simple question will unlock. During their travels around the globe, usually tied into oil legal-related work trips for Scott’s job – he or his wife Gina would ask locals the following question: “What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever seen or experienced?”.

During their travels to more then 100 countries they compiled several hundred such stories – which they whittled down to 50 of the best ones. The stories are told from around the world but with a focus on Africa where animals often play a primary role. This book is an entertaining read with sometimes some shocking tales. While the majority of the stories are told by those they meet during their travels – Scott and Gina also interspersed some of their own personal experiences.

One of the most captivating tales involves a Cape Buffalo (one of the most dangerous animals on the planet) – another highlights a spoiled CEO who made one of his workers fly 12 hours round trip in a private jet to secure a specific brand of clean underwear, a pug mistaken for a pig (which could have serious consequences in Saudi Arabia) and a scared swimmers surprising defense against what he presumed to be an impending shark attack.

Edited and the forward was written by long time travel writer, Don George.

We hope these talented two have another book in their repertoire – with their love of premium wine, perhaps a book about stories of the Napa Valley (in addition to their already written app for the Apple Store).
