Wooo Africa looming on the horizon this weekend. The World Cup craziness should be spilling out onto the streets everywhere! Every since my last trip to Africa I’ve been craving the shores of this huge continent. This will be the year of Africa for me, later trips are planned to Egypt and South Africa.
I will be going straightaway to outskirts of Accra in small villages to volunteer with YCC Ghana for a few days. Their work is with villages, education and computer training.
After that I am going to Abidjan in the Ivory Coast to meet with Bernard Pollack and Danielle Nierenberg who run Border Jumpers – they are visiting nearly every country in Africa and bringing stories of hope from across the region to as large an audience as possible. I am one of their syndicates during their travels.
Next up after touring the Ivory Coast countryside I will catch a bus back to Accra where I will hook up my first ever pen pal and his fiance. I still have his first letter dated June 4, 1991 – nearly 20 years ago!
I also hope to pop over to Togo and Benin. Stay posted for updates!
