We arrived yesterday from Zambia crossing what is one of the muddiest border crossings I’ve been through – the divide between Botswana and Zambia near the town of Kazangula. Guys were hanging out just to carry any extra luggage on their backs through the muddy quagmire. The ferry after the Botswana customs was nothing more than a metal floor hooked to an engine – along with one other tourist, we were the only ones on this ferry. Oh and the money exchanger. He claimed to have one of the best rates for changing money we would find (later as expected we found out his claim was low by several dollars to the Botswana Puna – in other words, a total rip off).
Syy decided to change some money – but after counting what he gave her she found out he had ripped her off even worse than his said exchange rate. As the ferry reached the shore Syy demanded the money back. He peeled off a number of bills from his stack and we walked away. Counting the money again, Syy was surprised that he had accidentally given her a Botswana bill in addition to the money she gave him – so finally, a rip off artist got his own treatment!
Hoof and Mouth disease is a serious concern here – after entering Botswana we immediately had to rub our shoes and the shoes we were carrying in some sort of chemical covered cloth.

Phenomenal photographs of Africa, another one of the places I will never get to in my lifetime. But your account of your adventures stirs my wander lust. The photograph of Victoria Falls is spectacular–as is the falls of course; the hotel doesn’t look too shabby either.
So many paintings would come from such a trip, if I was able. Yet, I’m stuck in Michigan with a totally bum knee. Seeing the world through your eyes will have to do. Very enjoyable blog. I will follow.
