Kara Kimbrough is an Associated Press award-winning journalist who enjoys interviewing everyone from ordinary Mississippians with an interesting story to tell, to celebrities like NFL star Brett Favre and Food Network chefs Emeril Lagasse, Cat Cora and Guy Fieri. She writes a syndicated food column published in The (Jackson, Miss.) Clarion-Ledger and Gannett newspapers around the U.S. She is a restaurant reviewer for The Sun-Herald on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Her food, travel and lifestyle articles appear in magazines around the Southeast, including “Eat, Drink, Mississippi” and “Mississippi Magazine.”
Her love of food was fostered by 13 years in the retail grocery business, where she served as corporate communications managers for a regional food chain. Today, she teaches public speaking at The University of Southern Mississippi and operates a marketing and public relations firm. Additionally, her services as a grant writer, pageant judge, corporate trainer and special events planner are in high demand.
She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communication from The University of Southern Mississippi, a Master’s in Educational Leadership/Administration from William Carey University and a Master’s in Communication Studies from The University of Southern Mississippi.
