Born in England and raised in Oman (Middle East) I have always had a love of and an affinity for travelling. In Oman I was lucky enough to travel twice a year into the Empty Quarter (the largest sand desert in the world) to live with the Harasiis Bedouin tribe for up to 10 days at a time. My childhood gave me a love and respect for local life and nature in all its forms.
Since then I have backpacked, worked, volunteered and lived in over 50 countries. I have had some crazy experiences on my adventures such as living on a desert island for 3 months, getting kidnapped in Africa, getting lost 74 feet underground and, amongst other things, swimming with Sperm whales. As for work, I’ve had a tonne of random roles although the running theme to date has been my work as a conservationist and marine biologist in countries such as Hawaii, Fiji, Madagascar, Bermuda and the Philippines.
My next escapade is Tokyo, Japan and after that who knows… My intention is not to brag but to demonstrate that the travelling lifestyle is not a fantasy but a reality, with the hope that I can somehow encourage you to go out there, do the same and become the person you always wanted to be.

On The Cheap – How Expensive Is Japan?
Every traveller and backpacker I’ve ever met who wants to go to Japan only asks me two questions. 1. Is Japan expensive to travel around? 2. Can you travel around Japan cheaply?
