60% of travelers still use airport parking as the preferred method for getting to the airport. So how do you know if on-site or off-site is better for you? Our friends at TravelCar, the global leading platform for booking airport parking, are breaking down some of the differences and benefits of airport parking.
On-site airport parking are garages or lots owned and operated by the airport and are typically the closest parking to the terminals. Because they are the closest, they are also typically the most expensive. Usually, airports offer daily, short term and long-term parking and some of the lots may require shuttle service.
Off-site airport parking are garages or lots not situated on the airport property. There is a daily fee, which usually includes shuttle service to and from the airport, and is typically less expensive than the on-site airport parking.
For some travelers, they’re willing to plop down the extra bucks for on-site parking to be closer to the terminal, because they believe it has better security, and they think it’s easier. For others not willing or able to spend the extra cash on on-site airport parking, off-site garages are adding options they hope will lure travelers to their lot.
