From personal experience visiting other Mexican cities including Guadalajara, I have found that the cleanest restaurants and the ones with generally very good food are located in larger hotels. However, one should not overlook the smaller restaurants – do not rely solely on online ratings, ask locals for recommendations.
Any prices listed are rough estimates for the cost of dinner for one person. However, most of these restaurants serve lunch and many serve also serve breakfast. Recommendations? Email Dave

Santo Coyote . “It was really indescribable. It was a huge place indoors and outdoors, beautifully and romantically decorated with a variety of styles of candles (real candles) and lights hanging high in the tree tops of their beautiful huge oak trees. The biggest surprise of all is when you enter the restrooms. They give the impression of being inside a candlelit cave. The wash basins are literally huge wine barrels cut in half – very tastefully done.
And past the sitting area of the washroom, you find a secret passage out of the cave into another world. You end up in a different place where drinks are served and where there is live music under an open sky. One side of this bar is like a natural tropical jungle with a waterfall. It really is like nothing I’ve ever seen in the US.” ~ Rhoda
