    Dave

During college I was introduced to a rich sugar daddy who lived in Westwood but hung out in West Hollywood. He was part of one of America’s famous families and he was wealthy – worth millions and millions. He lived on the top floor of luxurious private residence in Westwood just down from UCLA. He had one of the floors to himself. We were building a solar car at college and the college President’s office put us in touch with him for possible funding.

Little did they know… he would show up from LA every other weekend or so with another boy toy as his driver to come see how we were going with the car construction. Often he wore orange, and hot pink pants. Oh yea…this was quite the site in this conservative college town.

Apparently he met these “toys” while they were working in restaurants – wannabe actors, typical LAish stories. He always ate out at fancy places and we got to be a part of those dinners a number of times. When we visited him in LA, he would always get us the best table in some fancy restaurant. He loved examining all the patrons around us – often indicating to us who was Lesbian and was gay – and providing other crude commentary about the nearby well dressed patrons.

I was in LA for a conference at the convention center one year and I asked him if I could stay at his plush pad and he quickly agreed. My friends from college were quite worried and tried to talk me out of it, b/c it was just me, his male nurse and him (he was in his late 70’s at the time). I had huge suite in the house – I suspected there were hidden cameras installed, so I ended up shuffling around my room in the dark each evening (hoping he didn’t have night vision cameras setup beaming back to his own room) and taking showers entirely in the dark. I moved a bookcase against the door each night. He did request a kiss every evening on the lips – although I always aimed for the cheek and succeeded in my effort every time.

He then offered one of my friends lots of money (he was very very interested in one of my friends)- he kept calling my friend at all hours of day and night – to try to convince him to do lots of things at night sans clothing with Hong Kong models he imported specifically to perform bedside with his boy toys. He was well connected with pictures of many instantly recognizable people and every time we met him – he had always just had some meeting or lunch with one of these people.

We were bedside at UCLA Medical clinic with him not long before he died – he was all hooked up to machines, but he still required the kisses.

Quite a character. The town where I grew up and still live in – does not even come close to producing this type of monied, well connected unique character. This was a unique introduction to Los Angeles that made me realize this is not a “normal” town. 🙂

And here are some photos and personal description of Los Angeles.
